Item Upgrade upgrades provide players with the ability to upgrade their equipment that they already have. This can be done at any upgrader NPC.

Generally, upgrades increase an item upgrade's main stat and can give it extras depending on the item upgrader type. Examples include Whistan’s shield for FB Sorcs, and Goldwraps for caster builds.

Armour

Link's armor is a crucial factor in keeping him safe from danger. While it can't be upgraded like weapons, it can still be improved in different ways to increase its defence capabilities.

Armour is designed to safeguard animals or people from injury or harm regardless of whether it's a direct physical attack or a variety of hazards posed by the environment or activities. In the past, most armour was made from fabric or leather, but metal protections were also used in military applications, particularly like heavy cavalry and combat drones.

Like weapons there are a myriad of ways in which armour can be upgraded, but most will require visiting one of the four Great Fairy Fountains located throughout Hyrule. Each fountain provides a different level of upgrade, with more protection levels requiring more rupees and materials.

The first thing to remember about Armor Upgrades is that they are upgrades that last forever and once they've been applied they cannot be replaced unless there is another piece of equipment that comes with the same upgrade. It is essential to only apply the most effective level of upgrades to your gear and that you have the required materials to complete them.

You will find the upgrades you need in many places throughout Hyrule. These include shrines, merchants and even enemies. These are usually marked with a blue triangle or a gold circle symbol and are found in huge quantities as you progress through. They may appear randomly but there is a possibility that getting certain upgrades can trigger a quest that will reward you with even more.

It is important to remember that, although the level offered by each upgrade could vary, it will always be greater than zero. This is because a complete set of upgraded armour will give you a significant defense boost, which will shield you from all forms of attacks, except magic, making it a powerful weapon for any class.

Weapons

If you'd like to make your guns distinctive, you can upgrade them by utilizing a variety of unique upgrades. These upgrades can boost damage or alter the performance of the weapon to suit your specific build. They can also unlock new attachments such as unique enchantments, different types of ammunition, as well as aesthetic options.

To upgrade a weapon you'll need to have an upgrade component ready and the item. The weapon must be at least a certain level to upgrade it. Most weapons only take one upgrade.

You can find weapons upgrade components scattered across the world and from enemies, or they can be purchased from vendors. The upgrade components themselves are made up of ingredients that can be slotted into armor, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools to provide an attribute bonus or additional impact while they're being used. The equipment has to be of a certain level before it can accept the upgrade. It can be upgraded in the same way as other items.

Upgrades are a mixture of Smithing Stones (a type of stone) and Runes. They can be used to boost the stats of weapons and increase their ability to scale with other stats. They can be found from enemies who drop them in the open world, purchased from certain merchants, or obtained from combat.

Two NPCs can upgrade your weapon: Blacksmith Hewg in the Roundtable Hold hub zone and the Smithing Master Iji, in the Road to Manor hub zone. Both of these NPCs will take your Smithing Stones and Runes in exchange for a higher-level version of the weapon as well as an enhancement.

It's important to prioritize upgrading your best-in-slot items first, and then those you won't be replacing in the near future. If you're playing a melee build, for instance upgrade your weapon, then your chest and shoulders, then your hands and feet. The same principle applies to Magic and Utility Items. However, depending on the style you play, certain items will be more useful than others. Similar is the case for Armour and reforges, with some having superior performance over others.

Magic Items

A character is able to upgrade only one item of magic. If an upgrade project is cancelled, no more upgrades will be offered for that item. Magic items that are upgraded cost twice the amount of gold it would cost to create or buy, but they can also offer additional advantages.

A magical item is any item that has special properties or effects. The majority of these items are weapons, but there are some that are also shields, armor as well as cloaks, potions rings, scrolls, and other items. Certain of these items can be made to speak.

Most magic items can be upgraded to become infused with additional abilities. This can make them more useful to players, or could help them conquer any difficult situation. A weapon that is infused with a special substance might offer, for instance, extra damage against a certain enemy type. This is particularly useful for characters who have reached a level where they're likely to face a single kind of monster over and over again in Dungeons.

A ring that is infused can grant protection against piercing, bludgeoning or slashing damages from non-magical attacks (not even silvered ones) until the next time the character is taking a long rest. This is particularly useful for combatants who are melee or anyone looking to avoid buying a shield.

Some enchanted items have special powers that allow the character to cast spells in addition to the ones on the list of spells for their class. This can be useful for characters who have difficulties filling their spell slots because of multiclassing. These items with enchanted abilities typically require an Intelligence (Arcana) check to use them, and the spell's effectiveness is determined by rolling an index determined by the number of Intelligence points used.

Other enchanted objects might permit the character's appearance to be altered or create a completely new one. They can be especially useful for those who have to leave their home, or are in a location where they might not be welcomed. An enchanted item upgrader might give them an invisible effect, or perhaps make them invisible to anyone except a chosen person.

Utility Items

Utility items are products that don't fall into the categories of Clothing, Armor or Weapons, and provide a range of different capabilities. They are not compatible with each other, unlike Armor or Weapons. Most utility items have a passive effect which players can activate while using them. However, some of them have additional abilities that are activated by pressing a button or triggering an ability.

Generally speaking, the most popular type of utility item is the Flashlight that is used to illuminate the surrounding area. Other utilities include the Helicopter Hat and Rocket Boots, which allow players to fly in the air while moving, and the Jetpack, which allows players to accelerate in any direction while on the ground. In the Engineering section you can instantly produce several utilitarian items, whereas others are unlocked by Research projects or experimental projects on the Proving Ground.

Players can unlock more powerful utility items in addition to those they have in their usual inventory by purchasing them at the Atomic Shop or from seasonal Scoreboard rewards. Certain of these items can be upgraded to increase their effectiveness.

The majority of utility items boost the combat ability of a particular character or provide the player with some kind of advantage when it comes to navigation. Sharpening stones, crafted by the Weaponsmith will increase power and Ferocity, while Maintenance Oils, made by the Huntsman, increase Concentration and healing power. Other items that are useful can be used by players to increase Damage or Condition Damage.

All XCOM soldiers can equip a utility item at the beginning of the campaign. Later, an additional slot can be obtained by acquiring certain types of armor or completing engineering, research or experiments in the Proving Ground. In the Alien Hunters DLC, additional slots are created by equipping the Grenade Launcher, which allows the player to equip a Smoke Grenade or Bomb in an additional grenade slot while an offensive grenade can be placed in the main grenade slot.
