The uPVC/Composite handles are made of tough materials and are perfect for doors with multiple points that require a strong design. The handles are inline and work off the same spindle and screw fixings so they can be easily incorporated into doors made of uPVC/Composite, either new or old.

The handle can be placed and angled to accommodate the needs of all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200 000 cycles. This helps to ensure that the quality of finish and performance over time. The lever that is sprung can be shortened to fit the widest range of locks. This is particularly useful for narrower door frames where the cylinder is further back. A shorter lever can be used on doors that have a latch that can be activated with the thumb inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad upvc door handle operates differently than lever handles that are found on the majority of doors. These handle types are either operated by one spindle or two spindles, inline or offset. They are usually used on UPVC double glazed front door handles glazed doors. They come in many variations & finishes.

The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200k cycles and are available in various finishes, including White and Silver, as well as Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and resistant to corrosion. This gives the handle a high performance and durability for its intended use.

All UPVC levers for handles come with a spindle, screws and can be mounted on a uPVC door. The backplate fixing centres of 211mm allow for a wider handle, which can be beneficial in replacing a defective or worn multi point door lock mechanism. These levers for handles are also spring-loaded, thereby solving the issue of door handles sagging out of their horizontal position when they are not being used.

When choosing a replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is crucial to match the PZ dimensions of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement is often known as the handle centre or 'cylinder centres which is a crucial aspect to match the right handles.

After you have determined the correct size of PZ and the correct PZ size, you must make sure that the push and lever pads are designed to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. These are typically round or square with an internal lever, and an external push pad.

Most of the UPVC lever pads we sell are sprung, meaning that they will return to their horizontal position after not in use, rather than hanging out and possibly sticking in the frame. This stops draughts and cold air from getting into a house. You will also find that the majority of the UPVC handle lever pad style handles are handed, allowing you to install them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other types of doors. They work with a key to unlock a cylinder case which will reveal pins that can be aligned to those in the lock body and allow them to rotate the cam, thereby opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with both internal and external doors typically requiring different levels of security.

The choice of the correct cylinder is crucial; it is dependent on the way your doors and handle are used. External doors, for example, should be fitted with cylinders with greater security and doors inside can be secured using the standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders have extra features that increase security even more, like anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

A euro cylinder should be measured correctly to ensure it's the correct size for your victorian door handle. The cylinder needs to be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, if there is one. If you are unable measure it with the lock in position, you can remove it. It is crucial to ensure that there is no cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it vulnerable to lock snapping attacks.

Most modern cylinders are constructed with anti-drill and bump resistance features built into their design. These are designed to reduce the chance of a attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in a different direction. This can help deflect the attack and ensure your doors are secure.

There are also cylinders that are designed to withstand snapping. This is an increasingly common kind of attack on cylinders which is where the break line of the lock is attacked using a special tool to break off the front of the cylinder and allow the door to open. This is a quicker and easier way to gain access than the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the burglary which can delay insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is positioned within the base of your door handle's backplate providing a sprung solution that returns the multipoint lock handles back to their normal position after using. There was a time when these types of handle didn't have a spring built into them and without this they can droop or drop once the locking mechanism is removed. Adding this simple component is one of the best ways to correct this and it is also an excellent way to stop your upvc doors from getting stuck in an open or closed position, as these aren't always simple to close manually.

The spring cassettes were made to be used with a spring multipoint locks. They won't work with handles that are not sprung, and you will have to cut a hole in your backplate in order for them to fit. (Please look at the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for broken or missing cassettes in the door handle backplate of numerous brands of uPVC doors. They feature a square cut-out that allows for an 8mm spindle to be used and they are supplied individually.

These spring cassettes offer an excellent value solution for the problem of sagging door handles. They are simple to put in and will prolong the life span of your uPVC doors.
