What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

Costs

Upgrades have certain costs associated with them. The first is the cost for the upgrade. This cost depends on the new ilvl of the item and the number of perks it gains and is often expensive. It can also be costly to upgrade an item to a higher tier (such as Explorer > Champion or Veteran > Heroic).

The other is the cost of items needed to upgrade. It is also possible to add a number of additional materials to the upgrade, thereby increasing the chance of success. They are displayed in a window above the + button.
