3 Wheeled Buggies

A 3-wheel buggy is great for off-roading and taking on terrains that is bumpy, like woodland tracks. They are also more easy to maneuver around kerbs than 4-wheel models.

Stability

Four-wheel buggies with their centre of gravity balanced by your child's weight within the seat, are generally more stable than three-wheelers. However, that doesn't mean the three-wheel buggie isn't worth considering, since some of these models are designed to cope with anything from rough terrain to bustling high-streets.

Some models can be used with a second seat or buggy board if you're planning to increase the size of your family.

If you are planning to remove your three-wheeled buggies from the roads that are asphalted, you should choose one with pneumatic tyres. They can handle the most difficult terrain. These tyres will need pumping up occasionally but will be much more durable than tyres that are solid and more likely to be puncture-proof. Find a model with a the ability to lock the swivelling wheel on the front to help you negotiate tricky surfaces.

Having a single front wheel can also mean that three-wheelers tend to be more bulkier than buggies with four wheels when folded. Be sure that the model you choose fits inside your car's boot and can be placed upright if required. Certain models can fold in one hand and stand on their own when they're collapsed, which will save space in boot spaces that are smaller.

A good 3 wheel pushchair can cope with most terrain from busy streets to tracks through woodlands. It is important to consider how you will use it every day. If you'll be doing the school run with it, it must be able to handle sharp slopes and kerbs. If you're planning to run with it, make sure it has a swivelling "stretch front wheel' that can be locked.
