What is a single buggy?

A single buggy, also referred to as a sleigh or a sleigh-like carriage, is essentially a four-wheeled lightweight carriage that's usually pulled by a single horse. Amish people often use it, and they also call it a sleigh. Families often choose one buggy as it allows them to move around with ease.

Different types of single buggies

A lightweight buggy can be a great choice for parents who travel often, plan to use public transportation with their child, or take a trip on vacation. They typically weigh less than 6kg and fold down to a small size that allows them to be easily carried in the overhead compartments for luggage on flights. Buggies that weigh less than 6kg are great to travel with as they're generally easy to maneuver. A lot of them come with a sunshade and raincover that are worth the investment to keep your child happy during any outing!

A Jogger buggy is a single buggy that is designed for exercising and has large BMX-sized wheels. It also has an excellent suspension to take the bounces and bumps that come with off-road use. It isn't easy to steer a jogger buggie as the front wheels could be able to rotate. Locking this wheel is essential when crossing roads or putting on kerbs.

Some single buggies can be convertible that allows the seat to face forwards or backwards (known as parent-facing). This is ideal for babies who get fussy in the car seat and prefer to look out at their parents. Other models are only forward-facing, therefore they're best for older children who don't want to be disturbed.

There are tandem buggies that can accommodate two children who are the same age. This is useful if your twins or newborns are similar in age, however, it can be difficult to maneuver, particularly when the space is small. Some tandem buggies come with a reclining mechanism in each seat, so your child can lie flat while you push them.

The best single-buggy for you will depend on your lifestyle, budget and the size of your family. If you're expecting a baby, consider a lightweight buggy with a seat that can be used from birth. If you are looking to secure your finances, consider a single buggy which can be converted into a double buggy when the time comes. Phil&teds invented the first inline buggy, and they have a great selection of stroller and double kit bundles that will help you achieve this.

A single buggy purchase

A new buggy can be costly. Most pushchair packages that include bassinets for babies can cost upwards of PS700. This is quite a bit for parents with the tightest budget.

The reality is that, except for an urban area that has public transport readily available or have a massive car garage and spend every weekend on muddy parks, most families end up buying two buggies. One sturdy buggy that is able to take on rough terrain, carry heavy loads and grow with your family, and a second, lighter buggy to be used on holidays or in tight spaces like public transport and busy streets.

We recommend purchasing one single buggy that is one you love, and then selling it when your child grows older and you have to upgrade to a double. You will not be stuck with a gimmick that you don't want.

Buying an extra buggy

It is important to consider a lot when buying a double buggy, starting with the cost to the reclined seats available. You should also think about whether you need a large shopping basket and what type of suspension the buggy comes with. It is also worth thinking about what features you want your buggy to include such as sunshades, rain covers, and snack trays.

There are a variety of double buggies that are available on the market. The best single travel stroller one for you will depend on the person the person who will be using it, your lifestyle, and your budget. It allows you to use it as a single stroller from birth and then convert it into a side-by-side model for when your children are older. It is also possible to use it with a third child when the Ride-Along Piggyback Board is added, which makes it a very versatile option.

Mountain Buggy Duet V3.2 is another alternative. This is one of the slimmest side-by-side double buggies available, with dimensions that are almost as narrow as a single buggie. It has two seats that face the world and can recline independently. They can also be flipped to flat position. It can be adapted to fit two carrycots, or cocoons, as well as two baby car seats so it can take twins or children of different age groups.

It is easy to fold and can be done by hand, thanks to the twist mechanism on the handle. It has excellent suspension and a footbrake that operates smoothly which makes it easier to push it over rough surfaces. The seats are cushioned and the harness straps are thick, making them comfortable for your children to sit in.
