It's easy to move around with a lightweight double buggy travel system pushchair, especially if you have children with different age groups. They are easy to fold, steer and carry up and down the stairs.

hauck-runner-black-neon-robust-all-terraThis City Mini GT2 offers side-by-side seats with plenty of legroom with adjustable reclining, as well as massive UPF 50+ canopy with peekaboo windows. It also comes with an expanding frame width to accommodate a second car seat or a second passenger.

Side-by-Side

The majority of lightweight double pushchairs that we tested are side-by-side designs and are best suited for children who can sit up unassisted because they tend to lack car seat integration. The Thule Urban Glide 2 Double and the Baby Trend Sit 'N Stand Double, are both excellent choices. They have adjustable recline for both seats, a big canopy, and padded five-point safety harnesses. They're also easy to maneuver despite their larger footprints and are perfect for parents who are worried about fitting through doors.

The Cybex Duet pushchair is unique because of its clever frame that expands to add a second child seat. This makes it slimmer than other pushchairs with side-by-side seating. This means it fits through doors that are standard and is easy to move around on public transport. It can also be used as a jogger, which is a great feature when you're planning to use it in conjunction with baby carriers or a car seat. It's available in a variety of exciting colors.

Another fantastic side-by-side light double is the UPPAbaby Vista v2 Double, which offers even more customization through a modular frame. It's a clever design that lets you convert it into a single stroller or a double by adding two car seats or carrycots (it can even take twins). It's a good option for growing families. The umbrella stroller UPPAbaby is one of the lightest, most fashionable and stylish strollers double available.

Try the egg2 which folds down to the size and weight of a compact suitcase. It can be used as a single or double with the addition of 2 carrycots or infant car seats and our home testers loved the sleek and easy it was to handle even when stuffed with children.

Side-by-side lightweight double pushchairs aren't foolproof, though -If your children are the same age or at the same stage, they may still fight over who gets to ride in which seat. And if they're different heights, a tandem model could be better for them as it allows them to look at each other.

Tandem

While side-by-side models are more appropriate for siblings of the same age, tandem lightweight double pushchairs offer their own perks. Some can fit an extra car seat, while some have Reversible seats. Some even come with an extra carrycot or a convertible seat in the middle. They are more spacious and easy to get in and out of. However, their baskets tend to be smaller than those found on single buggies. They also have larger large canopies that have peekaboo windows, as well as one cup holder for parents and cushioned leg cushions for the children.

The iCandy Peach tandem is another good example of a lightweight tandem that offers great value. Its fabrics feel a little less premium than some of our other top-rated doubles, but it looks and feels great and is user-friendly. Its one-handed folding is awe-inspiring. Although it takes some practice, Kirstie from our Lab called it "genius". The carrycot cannot be folded while it's attached. However, the mechanism to attach and remove the carrycot is quick and easy.

Tandem lightweight double pushchairs will typically make tighter turns than side-by-side models, however they are more challenging to drive over uneven surfaces and curbs. They are also slow to pick up speed and are heavier to move, which could cause strain on your back.

Another option is a convertible double buggy, which starts off road double buggy as a single and then you add adapters to turn it into a double. This can include a second seat or carrycot in the front, or the children can be seated side-byside. Some can also consider adding a buggyboard, which helps an older child keep up with siblings who are younger.

The Uppababy Vista V2 can be transformed into a twin-sized stroller by purchasing additional cocoons for PS59 each. The cocoons create an open space for infants. These can be placed on top of each other or positioned to face each other and you can also use them with the infant car seat that is included with the pushchair (as as long as you choose the right one). Since they are made of high-quality materials, these buggies with dual-use capabilities can be used for a long time without showing much wear, meaning they have an excellent potential for resale.

Single-to-double seat stroller

This light double buggy is made for families who love the outdoors and are looking to upgrade from an individual-stroller. It can be converted into a jogger using the kit that comes with air-filled tires and all-wheel suspension. It can also withstand rough terrain well and is a tandem triple is ideal for twins or children of different ages. It's also a good choice for parents looking for an elegant design that's just as sleek as a single and is available in a range of colors for the fabric.

We were impressed by the way this iCandy model folds down with just one hand, making it really simple to master. Although it's heavier than the other single-to-double pushchairs in this review, home tester Karolina claimed that it feels extremely maneuverable, even with two toddlers and a carrycot in it.

The seat can be used as a parent-facing and you can purchase additional accessories for this stroller, such as the Roma Gemini carrycots (PS100 each), which are ideal for newborns. The seats are comfortable for toddlers with good headrests and lumbar support. There are a variety of options for reclining in the front, with the seat adjusting to various positions and the rear seat having the option of recline.

This kind of buggy has the main disadvantage of being larger than doubles that are side-by-side. This makes it difficult to maneuver through doorways, and it can be difficult to move between kerbs. The suspension and wheels of these strollers tend to be able to deal with paved surfaces. They're also lighter than most side-by-sides and, therefore, you can get a lot of storage. These strollers aren't easy to maneuver through supermarkets with narrow aisles, and they may struggle to carry a lot. It's a little easier to turn them around on the smallest of curved paths, but even this can be a challenge. Some are more easy to turn than others models, like the Thule Urban Glide 2 Double or Baby Trend Sit N' Stand Double.

Convertible

The benefit of convertible double pushchairs is that they can adapt to a family's changing needs. Most of the time, they begin as single buggies. They have adapters that allow you to add a second child's chair, a carrycot, or (in certain instances) a car-seat to the frame. Some can even convert back to a single when your older child begins to walk more or wants to ride on a buggy board.

This stylish tri-fold double stroller can be described as one of the lightest strollers on our list. It can carry up to 40 lbs per child and comes with a storage basket between the seats. The spacious canopy with peekaboo window, multi-position reclining seats and a front and back suspensions to ensure smoother riding on rough terrain were well-loved by testers at home. It also comes with a handy cup holder for the parent and a large, easy-to access basket. However, they pointed out that the seats' backs have small pockets that are not big enough to hold more than a cell phone and keys.

This top-of-the-line, lightweight side-byside can be used in more than 20 configurations, and comes with an additional seat and carrycot. It has a high-profile steering handlebar, front and rear suspensions that smooth rough terrain, an ultra-compact fold that can stand on its own with straps that make it easy to transport and seven-inch front wheels with swivel locks and 10-inch back wheels that have suspensions to ensure more comfortable riding. hauck-duett-2-double-pushchair-black-babThis multi-functional tandem is the top pick of our home testers due to the fact that it is simple to maneuver and features a large shopping basket that is accessible from both seats when they are in the parent-facing positions. Its lightweight weight (about the same as single pushchairs) makes it a breeze to maneuver. Many users praise the clever way it attaches the second seat or riding board at the back. Parents also appreciated the fact that it could accommodate infant car seats and carriers from multiple brands, including those which aren't usually fit in other double buggies.
