Three-wheeled buggies are great for walking around the neighborhood or jogging. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver even in tight spaces.

If you're looking for a smooth ride with your pram, choose models with 360deg front wheels that swivel. However, they are prone to punctures, so make sure you are prepared with an repair kit.

Sturdy frame

Recent figures have been released that show that the three-wheeled vehicle - a symbol of the noughties of more money than sanity is in a decline. Four-wheelers have replaced them, which are more versatile and easy to drive, while also looking elegant.

The bigger the wheels are, the better your buggy will cope with bumpy surfaces and uneven pavements. The larger wheels both rear and front allow you to move and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy on an infant and a 3 wheel running stroller-year-old child and found it very robust. It handled grass, cobbles and rough pavements, as well as dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath wrote "it is solid to push and is very stable when going over difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable so need occasionally pumping) offer built-in suspension, which was very comfortable for my children.

The shape and size of the seat is another aspect to consider. It should be big enough for your child's comfort. You will also need it to recline for them to lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies will have an option to lie flat completely while others only allow for a parent facing one.

A great choice for tackling off-road and muddy walks is the Roma Atlas. This buggy can be used as a single from the beginning and can be modified to take two children when your family grows. It is suitable for toddlers and infants from birth to age 4, and includes a bumper, raincover, an improved 5-point harness, and a huge padded seat. The storage options are good too, with a decent-sized basket, zip pockets on the hood, and an easy-to-access pouch on the back of the seat unit.

Wheels with a greater diameter

Larger wheels give your buggy more stability when driving on rough terrain. This is especially beneficial for off-road buggies. They also allow you to maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. Some three-wheeled buggies feature rotating wheels on the front, which assist you in navigating tight corners. Others are designed for running and have fixed wheels that lock for increased speed and stability. This is especially useful when you crash into a tree or a kerb. The front wheel can be lifted slightly to avoid hitting it.

A lot of 3 wheeled strollers wheeled pushchairs come with air-filled tyres, which allows them to tackle a broad range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They're also lighter. They are prone to punctures, so you'll require repair kits and an spare inner tube in your arsenal.

Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo lux are some of our favourite 3-wheelers. According to MFM's Kath, have larger wheels which according to her "perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles" and are able to go up or down kerbs. They also have a suspension system which in her words "smoothes out bumps extremely effectively".

Buggies with larger wheels can be quite wide, and they may be a challenge to fit into narrow spaces. This is a problem if you're using it as a jogger or to be able to get through narrow doorways when out and out and about. Fortunately, many models come with small folding options that let you remove the front wheels to make compact storage.

Easy to maneuver

A three-wheel buggy can be easier to maneuver with children. They are designed so that the front wheels can rotate at a moment's notice, and are easy to move, making them ideal for difficult terrain like parks, cobblestones, bumpy roads, and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tested a 3 wheeler pushchairs from birth wheeler with her newborn and toddler and stated: "The Terrain was a delight to maneuver on the ground and the swivel front wheel being especially helpful. I was also awed by the way it handled kerbs when using the hand-operated break. I found it to be extremely stable when driving downhill or over uneven ground."

The only downside of this amazing maneuverability is that the three wheel buggy's larger wheels sometimes mean that it can struggle in tight spaces, something to be aware of when you live in a city region. If this is an issue, a 4-wheeled buggy may be a better option for you.

MFM reviewer Kath said it was excellent on cobbles and grass. It's also a good alternative for running, thanks to its air-filled tyres and the lockable swivel wheel.

Kath who was our MFM reviewer, also adored the space of this buggy. There's a big, easily accessible basket that's quite spacious for such a small buggy as well as a handy zipped pouch on the rear of the seat unit, and even 2 smaller mesh pockets under the hood to store your keys and phone.
