Saab Key Replacement

Having your car keys stolen or lost can be extremely inconvenient. If you have an extra key, attaching an additional key to your vehicle is comparatively inexpensive and easy.

Keys lost or stolen

It's as simple as ever to copy the keys to your vehicle as it was 20 years ago. Modern keys are equipped with an electronic chip. The chips provide a large amount of protection against key theft and copying. However, this doesn't mean that you will never lose your key.

If you do lose your keys, don't panic! Be sure to check where you usually keep your keys. You might find them in the pocket of your jacket or pants or even on the floor near your front door. If you still can't find your keys, you should call a locksmith and ask him to come out to your vehicle and assist you in retrieving them.

A dealer can provide you with the new car key in case all your keys are missing. This is expensive and may take several days to complete. Instead, we can reprogram your existing computer's EEPROM and save you money.

03-11 SAAB 9-3 owners are aware that the ignition key is not very robust. The buttons could fall out and they can get stuck. It is recommended to make a duplicate of your ignition key, if you only have one. This will help you stay away from any hassles.

Lockouts

saab key fob owners are advised to carry a spare key, because it's simpler to replace a lost or stolen one. If you lose only one key, that's a different issue as it's quite expensive to purchase a new one and requires the dealer to install and program a new TWICE module (Column Integration Module for earlier vehicles) and a brand new key that is OEM (not from Amazon or eBay).

If your remote control keys are not locking or unlocking the vehicle, there are a number of possible reasons. The most common is a dead coin battery in the key fob but it can also be caused by damaged buttons or water damage, signal interference, and issues with the receiver module.

If your problem persists after you have checked all of these, you can try reprogramming the ignition key. This is done by changing (in inverse Hex) the number count to zero in the ECU. To accomplish this, you will need access to the case of your car key fob. The best way to do this is by removing the emergency key from the fob. Once you have done this, you can use a screwdriver with a flat head to open the case and expose the battery. Be careful while doing this and don't drop or pour any liquids into the case because they could damage the electronic components inside.

Broken Keys

It can be a frustrating experience to have your keys taken from your vehicle, especially in the event that you don't have an extra. Fortunately, you can lessen the stress by having replacement keys made by an experienced auto locksmith from Bishopthorpe. Whether you are in the middle of nowhere or just around the corner we can supply you with a fresh set of electronic chip keys in a short time.

Every Saab since 1995 has been required to have an immobilizer in the vehicle, which makes it almost impossible to steal your car without a specific key. A transponder that is specialized for the vehicle must be incorporated into the keys to turn on the car and unlock doors. The key also needs a transmitter/transponder chip that needs to be matched with the car's computer module in order to work. This can only be done by a dealer, using the specialized tool called a Tech-2 or a different kind of software.

It is not recommended to remove your broken key from the lock or ignition. This could cause damage to the lock, and cause other problems. The attempt to force a broken key out will usually result in the destruction of the key's metal blade or locking mechanism itself. This could be more expensive than a key replacement made by a qualified locksmith.

Replacement

Owners of Saab vehicles from around 1994 and on are advised to have at a minimum two working keys for their vehicle. Replacing one key is costly and complicated. The dealer will have to replace the CIM (Column Integration Module) or TWICE (Theft Warning Integrated Central Electronics), depending on the model, and the key itself. Furthermore it must be programmed to work with the new module. Keys that are claimed new from aftermarket sellers are usually not properly initialized and not program correctly when you require them.

It is not uncommon for a battery to wear out in a keyfob over a couple of years of usage, especially if the fob is frequently used for locking and unlocking vehicles. Fortunately, replacing the battery in the majority of SAAB 9-3 key fob models is easy and doesn't require any special tools.

A mobile saab spare key Locksmith can offer this service for 75% less money than dealers would charge. A locksmith will not have to replace the computer in the vehicle, and they can change the EEPROM in your current car to accept the new key. This saves cost since a new car computer could be expensive. This is why it makes sense to call an emergency SAAB locksmith whenever you require an extra key fob to your vehicle.310300814_438157535072560_44143179768643
