Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Mulliner, Bentley's coachbuilding unit bespoke, has designed a distinctive keycase to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the company. It's made of Dark Stained Burr Walnut with Piano Black Veneer and includes an eagle-like "B" paperweight, keys, and an album of never-before-seen 1930s 8 Litre images.

It's the perfect present to greet a new owner of their lavish vehicle.

Aesthetics

Bentley is a firm which takes its aesthetics seriously. Function

The Bentley Mulsanne key features a button that opens the trunk, and another button which starts the car. The key also comes with a switch that allows you to turn on the parking brake. The knob can be used to fold or unfold the mirrors when parking in a tight space. This feature helps you get in and out of your car.

The key is made from vegetable tanned leather and takes about two days to craft each one. It is hand cut shape, sewn, sealed, and polished to produce an excellent finish. It is small and sturdy and will fit the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is similar with the Volkswagen Phaeton's large car key, yet it feels more substantial and luxurious.

It also has Secure-A-Key that helps to prevent theft of keys with no key. This device is inserted into the remote-control fob, and then shuts it off if the key is not used for a few minutes. It prevents thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices which will allow the key to be opened and start the car.

During the event, Bentley displayed its Mulliner personalization options with an exclusive example that was the Mulsanne W.O. Edition, which pays homage to founder William Osler Bentley. The limited edition cars include keys that display the 1930 8 Litre crankshaft.
