Although the International Boxing Federation should be given credit for expanding it to a complete international image, ‘world’ titles at 168 pounds had been awarded in the United States previously, even if they were not well known. Don Fullmer defeated Joe Hopkins and won an announced version of the twelve stone title on April 3, 1967, at the Valley Music Hall in Salt Lake City, Utah. The bout was meant to last for 12 rounds, but Fullmer stopped Hopkins in the 6 round. On the other hand, there is little evidence to suggest that Fullmer ever viewed his new belt as anything other than a stepping stone for a shot at the middleweight championship.

Hey, I’m right eye dominant but left handed. I do everything mostly with my right hand except write and cook lol. Im comfortable using a southpaw stance and orthodox so its hard for me to tell which one i am. I feel im better defensively southpaw. Right jab is good my left is also good thanks to watch sonny liston my issue is throwing the left hook from southpaw and right hook from orthdox. From orthodox its like i tend to end up in a southpaw stance and southpaw i kinda lose my footing

I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with the fighting sports hybrid bag/sparring gloves. I’m looking for a pair of gloves mostly for bag work and some light sparring and would prefer not to have to buy 2 pair of gloves. I need gloves in the 16-20oz range. I’m looking for info on durability of the foams for going from bag work to sparring, basically if it’ll stand up to the bag work. I also would like to know physical size and fit in the hand pocket as i cannot find any around to try on.

7. Freddie Welsh: A clever defensive boxer, "The Welsh Wizard" was the British and European lightweight king before he won the world title in 1914. He competed in arguably the greatest 135 pound division in boxing history and holds wins over such luminaries as Benny Leonard, Willie Ritchie, Ad Wolgast, Abe Attell, "Peerless" Jim Driscoll, Battling Nelson, "Mexican" Joe Rivers, and he twice drew with the clever Packey McFarland.

After dominating the cruiserweight division which included unifying all Cruiserweight World Titles, becoming the first Briton to do so, David Haye set his sights on the heavyweight scene with confidence and flair. Despite his smaller stature compared to most heavyweights, ‘The Hayemaker’ relied on his speed and explosive power to make an impact. He had exceptional physical conditioning and footwork for a heavyweight boxer. The division took notice, and soon he earned his opportunity for glory.

Thanks for this great review Johnny , It really provided a great help but I’m a little bit confused and want the best for my hand support as boxing with cheap gloves hurt my wrist . so I’m 1.76 m " 5.8 inches " and 72 kg with moderate hand size , which of these gloves would you recommend most " I will use it for heavy bag only " : 1-twins special 14 ounces velcro 80$ 2-fairtex BGV1 16 ounces for 81$ 3- Rival ultra bag gloves 14 ounces for 81$ 4- Rival RB2 super bag gloves for 70$ on the cheaper side what do you think of RDX Ego gloves & Rival RB60 ?

Hey guys! I have been learning boxing for about 4 months now.i m having problem with countinous punching during fight I have a taekwondo background so i tend to unconciously bring my right foot exactly behind my left foot at 90 degrees. My trainer said that my weight should be slightly more on front foot which is always on lifted at heel.I m 70 kg 5ft 8inch height. Also speed is not exactly my thing .what would be a correct stance for me and also how can i learn to move freely while punching. . Another thing how can we deliver a pseverly painful blow to abdomen or diaphragm when a powerful opponent is swinging his arms wildly at very high speed to hit your face. Please take some time and answer in detail to everything as it is very cruicial to me. Waiting for your answer p.s.- i know only jabs and straights
