World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it can increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.

The process of upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.

The value of an item's stats base increases as it is upgraded. This is the sum of all of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive dependent on who you employ and what you decide to do. This is due to the fact that many perks need to be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.

The level of an item is a widely used measurement of power and is visible on all item tooltips. It also serves to determine a gating condition when waiting for dungeons, scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is limited to an lower level). Players can view their average item level in their character sheet.

When deciding whether to purchase or sell gear players can evaluate the item level. It's an indicator of the item's condition and quality. The item level can also be used to compare items when examining a vendor's inventory.

On your PC, you can check the level of the item by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including the ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering an item with the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are a variety of theories on the method by which the level of an item is calculated. One theory is that the item level is a numerical value derived from a formula which calculates the amount an item's stats are worth. It considers that different advantages are valued differently and that gems found in sockets boost the value of the item. This can result in a calculated amount for the item upgrader's level, which is typically close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.

However, this isn't the only factor which affects an item's ilvl, as the level of the area the item was dropped in could change the value of its stats, for instance by adding a level to its crit rating or haste rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

Item stats can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game uses a variety of them in different ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the best." The base stats of a weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modification, which are themselves increased by the player's skill.

Upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas items with rare tiers can be upgraded many times, at higher costs.

Another method to alter the stats of an item is to use affixes. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can be used to provide items with extra damage, special capabilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs) or to make them unique by putting a name on them.

All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. It will cost a set amount in gold and items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, as with other methods of rerolling.

Players can choose to upgrade an item by specific stats, or reroll affixes. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However every item will contain at least one stat in the range, unless they are an item that is unique, or a God Roll from a raid boss.

This is another thing that could be changed by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to enhance. But as with base equipment, this would have to be carried out on a per-item level, and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the chances of item discoveries as well as the properties that appear on loot drops and the intensity of the properties. It does not, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player a chance to acquire better equipment earlier in the game, and is therefore more valuable in early game runs than later ones since most players prefer higher weapon scaling and defenses over raw damage gains.

Luck can also increase the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increase with each level of the item. They can also be enhanced by using anti-materials, such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be created or spawned using the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can be augmented by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on their material type) to add another 40 luck or to increase an item's existing Luck up to 140.

Additionally, certain items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow, can be equipped to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items are available at the store or crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are expensive and not all upgrades will succeed. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to increase their chance of success or stop them from losing an item if the upgrade fails.

The rate of success of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on how much success rates can be increased and the probability of a failed upgrade cannot exceed 100%.

The luck of an item upgrader mod may affect the success of an upgrade. Each item has a success rate of 25 percent, and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.

The item upgrade overlays are displayed above items in the inventory. This can block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
