WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.

The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrading upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the item level, however, they are always cheaper than buying new gear. For instance, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. button, which will display a preview of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.

The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require several methods that are both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a specific item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will cost less, even if they are part of a different gear set.

The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut also, but is only available when certain milestones are reached.

Crests

Players have several options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrade level upgrades. Crests are a crucial part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type or equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item upgrader kit in the proper steps and paths.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it will bring some changes to the process of upgrading. When a piece has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests have one purpose and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment you have and keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
