Crawford, now 40-0 with 31 knockouts, entered the bout as the World Boxing Organization champion. In dismantling Spence, Crawford added titles from the World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Council. The win makes Crawford, 35, of Omaha, Neb., the first undisputed welterweight champion since 2007, and the first in the welterweight division to hold all four titles simultaneously.

On August 21, 2013, it was announced that Crawford would fight undefeated Russian boxer and WBO #12 ranked Andrey Klimov in another elimination bout, which would see the winner challenge WBO champion Ricky Burns. The fight was scheduled for ten rounds and took place on the undercard of Miguel Cotto vs. Delvin Rodriguez on HBO at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, on October 5. Klimov was coming off a majority decision (MD) win over fringe contender John Molina Jr. in June 2013. After ten rounds, all three judges scored the fight 100–90 in Crawford's favour, Klimov's first defeat as a professional. According to CompuBox stats, Crawford landed 192 of 604 punches (32%), whilst Klimov landed 57 of 290 (20%). In the post-fight interview, Crawford spoke on how he went in and got the job done, "I outboxed him. It was easy all night long. I thought I was hurting him all night long. I was never in any trouble and I thought he was in trouble." Due to Klimov's lack of action, it prompted a member of his team to call him a 'coward' after round eight in the corner.

A four-round unanimous in March 2009 over Travis Hartman was followed by four straight knockouts, the last in December by second-round TKO over Corey Somerville. In 2010, Crawford rose to 12-0 (9 KOs) with stoppages over Marty Robbins and Ron Boyd.

Three other fights have been announced for the event with WBA junior welterweight champion Isaac "Pitbull" Cruz taking on Jose "Rayo" Valenzuela, former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. facing Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller, and Leo Santa Cruz and Abner Mares meeting for a third time in their career despite neither having fought since 2022.

"We practice that," said Crawford. "Normally in camp we do a flick and jab. But we knew that wasn’t going to work with Errol Spence because he’s durable, he’s strong. So, we had to practice a strong firm jab. The jab hit him and stopped him in his tracks."

Saturday, December 21, 2019, was a day of redemption for Jermell Charlo. That was when he took on Tony Harrison in a highly anticipated rematch. Charlo promised a KO. He delivered, dropping Harrison once in the second with a left hook and again in the 11th with that same punch. Harrison would go down twice more during the stanza, the last of which forced referee Jack Reiss to mercifully end the bout at 2:28 of the eleventh.

Madrimov is a very good fighter, with a 10-0-1 record, and is a reasonable test for Crawford, especially as he moves up in weight. Crawford will no doubt be the favorite, but this is a legitimate fight, even if Madrimov is not a household name.
